　その昔、２９～３９歳までの１０年間、空手道を中心に稽古をしていた頃のこと。

　とある先輩が、こんなアドバイスをしてくださった。

　「社会人ならば、毎日稽古ができなくて当たり前。道場にだって、毎週なんて通えないよな。それでも工夫次第で、いろいろな稽古ができるんだよ。それでもどうしても、１日の中で、たった５分の時間もとれず、何もできない日も必ずある。そんな日には、３回だけでいいから、全力で正拳突きをする。３回だけでいいから。たったそれだけでも、何もやらないのに比べたらぜんぜん違うよ」

　この先輩は、某有名企業勤務でとにかく多忙な人だった。このため道場の稽古には来たり来なかったりだったけれど、地稽古はとにかく強かった・・・。


　また私の古流の旧師は、稽古場でよく、こんなことを言っていた。

　「道場というのは、技を習いに来る場所。練習しに来る場所じゃないんだよ」
